Doctor directed me to take 4 ducolax(5mg)... is there something i can do to relieve horrible cramps?

i am having like random "contractions" and when they happen i am in agony. It feels as if i am having period cramps X10000000. It comes and goes but when it comes i am screaming and crying because it is just horrible. I was sweating so bad i had to strip down to no clothes on the toilet. Is there something I can take to relieve the cramping that wont be bad to take with the laxative?
